Microsoft didn’t explain what exactly the “SE” stands for. It might contain ‘Simple Edition’ or ‘Student Edition. Leave the name aside, the Windows 11 SE is an Education-Specific OS that is streamlined, secured, and extends Windows 11 and its features to a border range of device price points.
With the release of Windows 11 OS, Microsoft also upgraded the system requirements to the next level. This makes it difficult to use Windows 11 on all affordable, low-powered computers. Especially the devices used by students in schools, colleges, and many educational institutes.
Windows 11 SE is the new cloud-first operating system that has a simplified design compared to Windows 11. What are Windows 11 SE System Requirements
Microsoft is positioning it as a slimmed-down version of Windows for affordable, low-powered computers but it’s not remarkably different. It was directly competing with Google’s Chrome OS so the minimum system requirements also required low. Windows 11 SE is not available on all devices. It can run on machines with 4GB or 8GB of RAM and 64 or 128 gigabytes of memory.

Except in China, Windows 11 SE will be available worldwide. Microsoft has said that it will be available on new devices starting November 9 but most devices will be out in the market only around January 2022.
