After various leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has launched its new budget smartphone called Redmi 10 Prime in the Indian market. It is a successor to last year’s Redmi 9 Prime and brings major upgrades. This smartphone is the rebranded version of Redmi 10, which launched globally earlier last month. Today, the company held a launch event in India to announce the Redmi 10 Prime and Redmi Earbuds 3 Pro TWS as a rebranded version of China’s Redmi AirDots 3.
This smartphone has become India’s first smartphone which brings The MediaTek Helio G88 chipset. Now lest talk about the device itself.
Redmi 10 Prime Design
If we talk about the design of Redmi 10 Prime, then Xiaomi has made a lot of improvements in design this year as compared to last year’s Redmi 9 Prime. Redmi 10 Prime features a polycarbonate back with a huge camera module that looks similar to the Redmi Note 10 series.
The dimension of the phone is 161.2 x 75.6 x 9.6 mm and the weight is 192gm. This device also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner built into the power button. This device also features dual stereo speaker with dual mic and a 3.5mm audio jack on the top and a Type-C port for charging.
Redmi 10 Prime Specifications
On the front, this device features a 6.5-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2400 x 1080p. This display also supports a 90Hz Adaptive refresh rate. That means the screen can intelligently switch between 45Hz, 60Hz, and 90Hz, depending on what’s on your screen. The front is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
Processor and Memory
This is India’s first smartphone that comes with MediaTek Helio G88 processor. This is an Octa-core processor Made in 12nm architecture. It generates clock speed of (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55). This chipset features Mali-G52 MC2 GPU clocked at 1000Mhz for Gaming.
The device is packed with 4GB/6GB of DDR4X RAM, with 64GB and 128GB eMMC Internal storage onboard, paired with a dedicated microSD card slot. You can expand the storage up to 512GB. Also, Xiaomi is following the lead of other popular Chinese phone makers to add a “memory expansion” feature to offer virtual RAM to users. You will get 1GB of virtual RAM on the 4GB+64GB variant and 2GB of virtual RAM on the 6GB+128GB variant for better multitasking.
The camera is the highlighted feature of Redmi 10 Prime. Redmi 10 Prime is offering a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera, along with an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree FOV, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth camera along with a LED flash. This camera supports supports up to 1080p @ 30FPS video recording. On the front, you will get a centered 8MP f/2.0 punch-hole selfie camera for selfies.
Battery and Charging
The Redmi 10 Prime is packed with a larger 6,000mAh battery which is bigger than the 5,020mAh battery pack on the Redmi 9 Prime. This device supports 18-watt fast charging along with 9watt reverse charging. But you get a 22.5W adapter in the box.
Softwere and Features
The Redmi 10 Prime runs on Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 out-of-the-box. This device also includes some additional features like Hyper engine 2.0 for gaming, Dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, and Dust & splash-proof.
Redmi 10 Prime Price and Availability
Redmi 10 Prime is priced at ₹12,499 for the variant with 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and the variant with 6GB RAM+ 128GB Internal storage is priced at ₹14,499. You can also use HDFC Bank debit cards, credit cards, and EMI payment options for an instant discount of up to ₹750.
It will go on sale starting from 7th September on Amazon India, Mi.com, Mi Studios, and major retail outlets across the country. The device will be available in three color variants: Bifrost Blue, Phantom Black, and Astral White.
