iQOO 8 Pro, iQOO 8 with Snapdragon 888+ ahead of launch

Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO makes gaming-centric smartphones. They launch its last smartphone iQOO7 series on April 26. Now the brand is all set to launch its upcoming flagship, iQOO 8, iQOO 8 Pro smartphone in China on 17th August. Also, iQOO is preparing to launch the iQOO 8 series later this week in India.

WHYLAB on Weibo and Debayan Roy (Gadgetsdata) has leaked the specifications of the upcoming handsets. As per the leak, the devices come with Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset. Including an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, 120W fast charging support, and more. You can find more details about iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro specs in the following section.

iQOO 8 Pro Specifications (Leaked)

The iQOO 8 Pro looks similar to its predecessor from the last year. It comes with a punch-hole design with slim bezels and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. And a rectangular rear camera module on the rear. The biggest upgrade comes with the display. This year this device brings a fancy 6.78″ Samsung E5 LTPO, AMOLED curved display, with 1440p (3200×1440) resolution, 517ppi density, 10-bit color. The display supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz up to 120Hz.

As per the leak, the device will draw power from a Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM with 4GB Dynamic Ram, and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Dynamic ram uses your internal storage to better multitasking. For gaming, this chipset offers the Adreno 660 GPU which is very capable to run any game on a smartphone.

GeekBench runs a test for a Vivo V2141A which is the code name of iQOO 8 Pro confirmed by DigitalChatStation. The results show us the key specification of the Pro model.

The brand has already revealed that the 8 Pro will have a triple camera setup on the back. A wide 50MP primary camera, with a 48MP ultra-wide, and a 16MP telephoto (60mm in 35mm equivalent (about 2.5x) zoom lens which supports Gimble OIS. At the front, there will be a 16MP selfie snapper inside the punch-hole cutout.

According to the leak, this device has a big 4500mAh battery. This device also supports 120Watt super-fast charging via a wired connection, 50W wireless fast charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. iQOO claims that this device can be fully charged from 0 to 100% in just 19Minuts only. It will run Origin OS based on Android 11 out of the box.

Now let’s talk about the iQOO 8 (the non-Pro version) specification. This device comes with a 6.56-inch FHD+ resolution of 2376×1080 AMOLED display. This display also supports a 120Hz refresh rate. If we talk about adaptive refresh rate, it is not confirmed yet but this display also supports 10-bit colors.

As for the internals the vanilla iQOO 8 will pack a non-plus Snapdragon 888 chipset with an Adreno 660 GPU for gaming. For the RAM and storage, this device supports 8GB & 12GB LPDDR5 RAM & 256GB UFS 3.1 Internal Storage.

This device includes a 4350mAh battery and can be charged by 120Watt fast charging. iQOO claims that this device can be fully charged from 0 to 100% in just 18Minuts. This device won’t support wireless charging. This smartphone also runs on Origin OS based on Android 11 out of the box.

The official pricing and availability details of the iQOO 8 and 8 Pro will be announced at the launch event tomorrow. However, considering the rumored these devices may carry a starting price tag of around Rs. 40,000 to 60,000. It is not The official price in India. Considering the Chinese price the pro model start at RMB 5,299 (60,700INR).
